Garda Baldo Bike & Bus Tour Promotes Two-Wheeled Tourism in 2001
“Garda Baldo – Bus & Bike” will be the winning combination for two-wheeled tourism during the upcoming summer season of 2001, encompassing much of the Veronese shore that extends from Garda along the slopes of Monte Baldo up to its summit.
This initiative resulted from a synergy between the APT – Riviera degli Olivi (Tourism Promotion Agency) of Garda, the APTV (Provincial Transport Agency) of Verona, the Malcesine – Monte Baldo Cable Car, and the Tourism and Sports Department of the Province of Verona. It was presented this morning, Thursday, April 12, in the civic hall of Castello Scaligero di Torri del Benaco, in the presence of, besides Provincial Councilor Davide Bendinelli, officials from the various companies involved in the project.
Details of the initiative
In practice, mountain biking enthusiasts will be able to take the bus, equipped with a Bike trailer, to reach the summit of Monte Baldo. From there, they will be able to descend on their bikes along a series of trails, mule tracks, depressions, sinkholes, terraces, caves, and slopes immersed in the naturalistic atmosphere that only these areas and locations can offer, free of charge.
Travel along these specially marked routes and trails, as indicated on a map being prepared by Kompass, on two wheels, perhaps accompanied by the Olympic and multiple-award-winning mountain biking champion, Verona native Paola Pezzo.

On April 22, Garda and the surrounding areas will host the second edition of the “Gran Fondo Paola Pezzo”, to which over 2,000 participants have already registered.
The summit of Monte Baldo will be easily accessible, weather permitting, starting from the valley floor in Malcesine, via the Cable Car, which in recent years has managed to carry over 12,000 bicycles to the top. The cable car will celebrate 40 years of operation next year.
