Garda and Beilngries Finalize Twinning for Cultural and Tourism Exchange
Garda, the town on the Veronese shore facing Salò, is finalizing the twinning with Beilngries (Germany), a small town of 8,700 inhabitants located in the Altmühl Valley Nature Park, between Nuremberg and Ingolstadt, where the Main and Danube rivers meet via an artificial canal completed in 1992.
The cultural councilor of Garda, Fabio Gaggia, the councilor Mario Coltri, the director of the Apt (Renzo Policante), and the interpreter (Mariella Faraoni) traveled to Germany to meet with the mayor of Beilngries, Franz Xavier Uhl, the deputy mayor Anton Grad, and a large group of representatives from various associations.
Visit and cultural exchanges
During the visit, several forms of exchange were planned in the areas of tourism, culture, gastronomy, and commerce. At every occasion, the utmost politeness and a warm welcome were evident.
Surrounded by medieval walls and nine towers, Beilngries boasts one of the best cycling networks in all of Germany. It serves as a starting point for excursions to baroque cities and princely residences.
