Brescia Rejuvenates Public Green Spaces with €166M Redevelopment Plan

The work of the municipal administration continues for the redevelopment of green areas. The second phase of the renovation project launched some time ago, as confirmed by the public works councilor, Innocente Sereni, involves an investment of 166 million euros for three sites.

Interventions in the green areas

These include 4,200 square meters on via Solferino, 4,480 in the Primo maggio area, and 3,200 near the stadium. On via Solferino, adjacent to the provincial road opposite the Fire Brigade barracks, a grass turf similar to a soccer field will be installed, native trees will be planted, public lighting will be put in place, and the necessary electrical conduits will be laid.

An urban furniture setup is also planned to enhance this neighborhood, called Fontane Est, which has recently experienced a rapid rise in residential density. The improvements will include iron and wood benches, waste bins, wooden swings, and a small playhouse for children.

Interventions at Primo Maggio and San Pietro Stadium

Regarding Primo Maggio, on a site near the Arnò canal, a turf carpet and rustic lawn will be created after leveling the ground. Trees will be planted, public lighting will be installed, along with conduits and urban furniture. Specifically, the area will feature iron and wood benches, waste bins, and swings for children’s recreation.

Another project approved by the council is located behind San Pietro Stadium. Here, a playing field will be built—a less complex intervention compared to the other two, but still aligned with the goal of reclaiming public spaces that have been left abandoned.

Work is also nearing completion for the kindergarten and the kitchen for school meals. Councilor Sereni expressed satisfaction in confirming that both projects are on schedule.

“The construction work for the kitchen was completed in November, and since then, the building has been available to the company providing meals,” she said. “Based on the remaining estimated time for completion, it is expected that the kindergarten could be fully operational by the beginning of September.”
