Lake Garda Water Quality Updates and Health Monitoring Services
At the start of the bathing season, the Comunità del Garda, as is customary for several years, activates two services of significant importance in the field of water health status information at Lake Garda.
One is the environmental-tourism secretary service, which throughout the summer season will provide guests and tourism operators on the lake with continuously updated information, particularly regarding the quality of bathing waters at Garda. The secretary also provides information on weather conditions, accommodation options, existing infrastructure on Garda, sports and recreational activities, and cultural events and entertainment organized in the different towns around the lake.
The other is the Adac-Sommer Service, launched with the arrival on Garda of a biologist appointed by the Costanza Institute of Hydrobiology on behalf of the Deutscher Automobil-Club (German Automobile Club) (which has 14 million members), to analyze, taking into account the limits established by European community regulations, data collected through collaboration with the hygiene offices of the Local Health Authorities, the Arpav of Verona, the Public Health Laboratory of the Asl of Brescia, the Health Authority of the Province of Trento, as well as meteorological services from the Region of Veneto, the Province of Brescia, and the Province of Trento. The Riva Institute of Hydrobiology collaborates in preparing updated bulletin reports, which Adac distributes via telephone, print, and the internet.
The service can be accessed by calling the Comunità del Garda headquarters (0365.290.411) or by visiting the website www.lagodigarda.it, which is constantly updated.
Bathing control measures
Meanwhile, the first seasonal bans on bathing are being recorded at Lower Garda. Exceedances of hygienic-sanitary parameters, indicating non-compliance with standards, have been reported by the Arpav of Verona in the area of Lungolago Garibaldi in Peschiera and in the Campanello Sud locality in Castelnuovo. The same situation applies to two beaches in Brescia, specifically at the Desenzano bathing center and at the Cimitero beach in Salò.
For the other 120 points, out of a total of 125 controls, everything appears to be in compliance.
