Daga School and Historical Self-Defense Seminar in Toscolano Maderno

Today from 1:30 PM to 6:30 PM, and tomorrow from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, a seminar on the ancient school of Daga, called “Nova Scrimia,” will be held at the middle school gymnasium in Toscolano Maderno, organized by Arcam (Associazione Ricerca e Cultura delle Arti Marziali).

Seminar Description

“The school of Daga and the art of self-defense is a renowned practice rooted in ancient traditions,” explains Gianluca Zanini, a novice instructor.

Already in the 14th century, Masters taught their pupils techniques and methods, which were preserved over the centuries through the efforts of those who followed the paths laid out by ancient science.

In this full-immersion experience, participants will discover the 14th-century school of Magistro Fiore dei Liberi from Premariacco and that of the 15th century by Filippo Vadi, rediscovering not only the actions and strategies but also the technical language and the historical/cultural environment in which martial and chivalric schools were formed.

Goals and Audience

An event for those interested in our predecessors, for martial arts practitioners, and for those who wish to explore aspects that today can be studied with a spirit of research and historical-cultural enrichment. In the past, these were vital and necessary tools for knowledge that helped preserve life.
