Arco Awards Art Installation for Peace Park from German Architect Gerhard Kadletz
The Peace Park, located next to the public gardens on via Nas, will be adorned with an art installation designed by Akad Gerhard Kadletz, an architect from the German town of Bogen, which is twinned with Arco.
Details of the artwork and commission
The project involves creating a stylized metal tower in the center of the green space, with a bell hanging from it inscribed with “Arco 2001.” The decision was made by the judging commission led by Luigi Campostrini, head of the municipal technical office, who reviewed twelve proposals submitted by Italian professionals and representatives from various foreign towns that maintain friendly relations with the Arco community.
The second-place finisher was the Rovereto-based architect Osvaldo Bruschetti; third place was Wittner-Wunder Jutta from Schotten, another German town twinned with Arco; and fourth was architect Paolo Michelini.
Objective and award ceremony
This unique initiative was launched last spring by the city administration under Mayor Veronesi and the “Arco Progetto Europa” committee, aiming to strengthen collaborations with the twinned cities.
The award was announced yesterday afternoon at the Casinò, in the presence of the delegation from Bogen led by the mayor and a modest audience. It was an opportunity for Mayor Veronesi to highlight the importance of cross-cultural collaboration within a united Europe.
Implementation and funding
The winning project will be realized as soon as possible, as the municipal council has already allocated funding that also covers the restoration of the entire Peace Park on via Nas.
