Alex Britti Tribute and Talent Win at Garda Festival Night

Alex Britti’s Effect at Cantalago. Mirko Zago, from Valeggio, aimed to present the audience gathered at the natural open-air arena of Bastione Tognon during the third evening of the Festival del Garda with a singing performance as close as possible to that offered by the popular singer of catchy tunes. He was so faithful that he didn’t forget the same Sanremo-esque falsettos of the well-known Alex.

Result, of course, was last place in the interpretation contest, with the final victory instead going to Simona Tedeschi, an excellent performer of The Power of Love by Celine Dion. For the girl from Verona, residing in the Navigatori area, the success was almost unexpected. “The group of contestants was very talented, and honestly, I didn’t think I would advance to the next round,” declared Tedeschi behind the scenes, still rightfully emotional.

She was carrying under her arm the stunning book on Arilicensi fortifications, received as a prize from the hands of the municipal councilor Orietta Gaiulli, who took the stage alongside Nicola Bizzocoli. Meanwhile, among the audience, intentionally away from the spotlight, was Mayor Bruno Dalla Pellegrina. It was not easy for the qualified popular jury to choose the best voice, however.

Interpretation and Original Works Section

This is demonstrated by the mere half a vote that separated the top contestant from Marco Biasetti of Malavicina (Desperado – Eagles) and also from Luisa Allegrini, who tackled the challenging piece Brivido caldo by Matia Bazar. No hesitation, instead, in the original works section, which saw the teenage Alessandro Molinaro of Caldiero triumph with the intriguing song L’ombra del ciliegio, defeating the mature Franco Bucci, a measured performer of Viale della Notte.

Second-year student at the Giorgi Institute in Verona, Alessandro Molinaro placed second last February at the Leoncino d’oro contest in Venice. Notable among the musical guests was the performance of Nena (Buongiorno Amore), a production by Piero Cassano, musician of Matia Bazar; and the Vicentine Paolo Fin with his Grillo assassino.

Singers with great vocal ability, but especially excellent stage presence, capable of captivating and involving the audience. Similarly aligned was Verona’s Elisa Antonelli, who also had the task, together with the dance troupe consisting of Serena Parisotto, Lisa Lambo, Deborah Arduini, and Silvia Poletti, of opening the show with the catchy tune Musica Sarà.

Adding to the traveling event, the three comedic interludes, this time entrusted to the wit of Giorgio Zanetti, already a protagonist in TV shows like Convention broadcast on Raidue. The evening, hosted by former Miss Italy Susanna Huckstep, showcased the performances of the energetic girls from Moulin Rouge and the Gamblers, directed by choreographer Nando De Bortoli.

Full of applause as well for Brescia’s Elena Tavernini, winner of the last edition of the Festival del Garda, outstanding in the cover The Reason by Dion.
