Garda Festival Debuts in Gargnano with New Contest and Hosts
Gargnano. The Cantalago makes its debut tonight at 9:30 PM in Piazza Nazario Sauro in Bogliaco, a hamlet of Gargnano.
For the first time after six editions, the Festival del Garda arrives in the Brescia area known as the starting point of the Centomiglia. This year’s regatta is paired with the Garda National Lottery, a contest also promoted by the Festival Canoro itself. The festival is organized by the Benacus association with the sponsorship of the Veneto and Lombardy Regions, the Autonomous Province of Trento, the Garda Community, and the tourism departments of the Provinces of Verona and Brescia.
Change of hosts and contestants
The today’s stage also marks a change in the hosting team. Replacing the brunette Susanna Huckstep is Gloria Zanin, a Vicentine and former Miss Italy in 1992. She will introduce on stage the four contestants competing in the interpretive section and the two participating in the new original song contest.
Another exclusive novelty of this fifth qualifying stage is the participation of an Austrian national, Michael Buchacher, who will perform with the interpretive group to the notes of a famous Elvis Presley song (I Can’t Help Falling in Love).
From Milan, Patrizia Odorici arrives (performing At Least You in the Universe by Mina). Completing the quartet of voices are Virginia Canteri from Verona (performing Come Saperrei – Giorgia) and Viviana Laffranchi from Vestone (performing Morning in Summer – Patty Bravo).
Original song section and other participants
In the original song section, the direct selection will see Linda Ongarelli from Pescantina (performing Sabbia tra le Dita) versus Gianni Pescini from Brescia (performing Express Yourself).
The evening will feature performances by comedian Giusy Zenere, rap group Matross, Nena (who will sing Buongiorno Amore), Cristian Pighi (performing Eri Così Bella), and our regular host Elisa Antonelli with her song Innamorata Ancora.
For ballet, the companies Moulin Rouge and Gamblers will perform.
