Controversial Open-Air Theater Near Palacongressi Park Completed
From afar, it looks like a spaceship silhouetted against the greenery of the Palacongressi park. A truncated cone made of reinforced concrete, covered with white marble slabs: it is the open-air theater commissioned by the previous administration. Now, the work is finished. The steps face the lake, a shallow platform is intended to host artists. The structure has already sparked considerable debate in the town and continues to evoke completely contrasting opinions.
Comments and opinions on the structure
“We completed the theater in the shortest possible time, despite not sharing the decision made by the previous administration,” says Mayor Davide Bendinelli. It is precisely because of this lack of consensus with the predecessors that there will be no official inauguration of the work, which remains pending judgment.
“The functionality of the open-air theater,” adds Bendinelli, “still needs to be evaluated, and in any case, we never agreed with the idea of building it at the expense of green space and disturbing the visual cone of the hotels behind this structure.”
