Desenzano to Open New Parco delle Piscine in September with Health Trails
The new Parco delle Piscine, the largest green space currently existing in Desenzano, will open to the public in September, that is in just over a month and a half. The announcement comes from the city’s Public Works Councillor, Tommaso Giardino, who confirms the forecasts made some time ago when the project was publicly presented.
Undoubtedly, the residents of Desenzano and the many tourists flocking to the lakeside town would have preferred the park to open at the beginning of summer, allowing them to enjoy it during the warmest months. But this is how it is. Nevertheless, the area will not be fully accessible immediately, as in the early months of the next year, work will begin on the third phase, which involves the construction of the service center and the facilities outlined in the project.
Only then will the ribbon be officially cut. The area is located behind the municipal pools and the «Tre Stelle» stadium, in a naturalistic and scenic environment of considerable value. From there, one can enjoy an incomparable view, with trees and vegetation typical of the Garda habitat.
It is no coincidence that Councillor Tommaso Giardino is working towards an agreement, now nearing completion, with the Associazione Italiana dei Malati di Trombosi, based in Milan, which plans to create a specialized health trail. Let’s take a closer look at what this entails.
Health Trail and Medical Significance
Many individuals affected by thrombosis are forced to undergo a lengthy and patient psychophysical rehabilitation. However, suitable centers or green areas that can meet such needs are not easy to find. Giardino, who is also a hospital doctor, has contacted this association, which, barring last-minute complications, is expected to sign the agreement and organize the dispatch of people with physical or cardiac deficits to facilitate their recovery through walks on specially equipped paths.
Recall that a stone’s throw from the new park was the well-known Villa del Sole health center, dedicated to tuberculosis treatment. But while Desenzano residents eagerly await the opening of this Parco delle Piscine, some in Rivoltella complain because they see no sign of gardens anywhere. Or rather, as a reader reports, despite “promises and commitments, everything remains the same as before.”
Situation of Green Areas in Rivoltella and Desenzano
The focus is particularly on the (lack of) garden and the playground area in via Cassio, where “the condition of the lawn is terrible and a metal play equipment has been torn down and discarded.” An unsuitable and potentially dangerous area for children. Similar complaints had been raised months ago, hoping that the municipal palace in Palazzo Bagatta would issue orders to restore the garden.
Instead, nothing has changed. Overall, the situation of Desenzano’s green areas remains far from ideal. It would suffice to remember the public garden closed for twenty years in via Fosse Castello. A green lung that, for reasons never clarified, has been abandoned to weeds right in the heart of the city center.
The hope is that the Parco delle Piscine will catalyze the rebirth of Desenzano’s parks and gardens.
