Lonato Council Discusses Urban Planning and Public Works Projects
Urban planning and public works are at the heart of the Lonato City Council, scheduled for tomorrow at 8:30 PM in the Sala Celesti. Among the items on the agenda are some amendments to the General Town Plan and the Pozze 2 Land Development Plan. But that’s not all: the Council will also discuss the adjustment of the forecast budget for the fiscal year 2001, as well as modifications and additions to the public works program for the 2001-2003 triennium.
Discussion is also scheduled for several questions submitted by the opposition parties. Regarding changes to the public works chapter, a more substantial intervention is planned for the municipal building in Via Zambelli, which until last year housed the registry and tax offices. The counters have been transferred to the unified revenue office at the “La Rocca” center, in the locality of “La Piena” on the outskirts of Lonato.
Renovation of the municipal building
“The renovation of this building has been planned for some time,” explains the Public Works assessor, Emilio Baresi. “The upper floor will be entirely reserved for the Justice of the Peace, who will thus leave the headquarters of the former magistrate’s court; on the ground floor, many associations that request suitable spaces from the Municipality daily will find accommodations.
“Compared to the original project, the work carried out will be significantly greater. We will bring the electrical and hydraulic systems up to standard. Initially, we only planned to renovate the spaces of the Justice of the Peace.” The total cost: 300 million lira, compared to the initial estimate of 200 million. The additional works will primarily benefit cultural associations: with dedicated spaces, their future becomes less uncertain.”
Project on the highway 668 overpass
No decision has yet been made regarding the reconstruction of the highway 668 overpass, just beyond the Filatoio district. To create the highway’s emergency lane, Serenissima has long decided to demolish the bridge that spans it, extending it by about ten meters. The works, already contracted, are expected to commence in the coming weeks: “We do not yet know the exact start date of the work,” says assessor Baresi. “Contact with the company is ongoing. What matters most to us are the interventions Serenissima will undertake at its own expense for the alternative route, to minimize disruptions as much as possible.”
