Garda Scammers Impersonate Police, Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to Army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have no connection to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the real carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
