Scammers Impersonate Police to Target Garda Businesses and Citizens

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not actual military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often suggest subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement authorities.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, once they have received the money, disappears.
