Scammers Impersonate Police in Garda Area to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not military personnel but con artists who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, firefighting services, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often promote subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who, once they have the money, disappear and do not return.
