Garda Scammers Impersonate Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and high Garda area, offering subscriptions to Army magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, the police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect being targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
