Scammers Impersonate Police for Garda Subscription Fraud

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the Carabinieri.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, the police, firefighters, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining the money, disappear.
