Scammers Impersonate Police to Trick Garda Businesses into Paying

They pose as carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the Carabinieri.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines entirely unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be alert and immediately notify the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
