Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those with no connection to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately contact the genuine carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
