Scammers Impersonate Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions
They pose as carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda, offering subscriptions to Army magazines.
They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigades, or municipal police.
Beware of scams and how to react
They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.
So be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after receiving the money, disappears.
