Garda Scams: Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Offer Fake Subscriptions

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the Carabinieri organization.

These are not actual military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be from the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear.
