Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda Area, Warn Authorities

They falsely present themselves as carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those with no connection to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after collecting the money, disappear.
