Garda Scam Alert: Fake Carabinieri Impersonators Target Local Businesses
They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, proposing magazine subscriptions from the Armed Forces.
These are not actual military personnel but scammers who, each time, claim to be part of finance, police, firefighters, or local police officers.
Beware of scams and how to react
They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those completely unrelated to law enforcement agencies.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the true Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after collecting money, disappear.
