Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate carabinieri when they contact hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the Carabinieri.

These are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Warning about scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri — by dialing 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving money, disappear.
