Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda-area Businesses

They impersonate carabinieri when they make phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not actual members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

So be cautious and immediately inform the true carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after receiving the money, disappear without a trace.
