Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, craftsmen, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal police forces.

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after receiving the money, disappear and do not show up again.
