Garda Area Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the Carabinieri Corps.

They are not actually members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigades, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after receiving the money, disappear without a trace.
