Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda Area, Authorities Warn

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the Force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or local law enforcement.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after receiving the money, disappears.
