Scammers Impersonate Police in Garda Area to Promote Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military publications.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, law enforcement, fire brigades, or municipal police.

They often promote subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the genuine carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,
