The latest public assembly of outgoing mayor Paolo Bellini marked the end of an era for Pozzolengo, with the mayor deciding not to run for re-election after 25 years of service in various periods. At the event, which was attended by about 80 people, Bellini expressed his gratitude to his collaborators and councilors, emphasizing the importance of the support he received from his family during the five intense years of his administrative activity.

NDR: “We have followed the evolution of Pozzolengo and the initiatives of the various administrations of Paolo Bellini for 25 years, to whom Luigi has been connected by a long friendship. On this occasion, we wish both Paolo and Marika the best for their future.”

Balance of public works

During the assembly, the mayor highlighted the value of the public works carried out, amounting to approximately 7 million euros. Among these, 3 million were allocated to the wastewater treatment plant, significant funds were used for seismic redevelopment of schools, and 1.4 million for the adaptation of social housing. Investment in road safety and the construction of new multipurpose classrooms in the school complex were further focal points of his mandate.

Plans for the right to education and culture

In the plan for the right to education, 2 million and 140 thousand euros were invested over five years, especially in personalized services and reducing fees. Culture represented another important area, with established events despite the difficulties of the pandemic, such as the Palio, the fair, Christmas markets, and historical reenactments, which have become fundamental appointments for the community of Pozzolengo.

Conclusions and final reflections

The mayor then thanked outgoing councilor Marika Busti for her contribution and emphasized the presence of a budget surplus of approximately 400 thousand euros. Busti expressed her desire to personally thank all those who have collaborated with her over the years, emphasizing the importance of culture and education as tools for youth development.

In her speech, Marika Busti highlighted how culture, in its deepest sense, has been a priority of her mandate, intertwined with youth education. She wanted to thank volunteers, teachers, artists, and all those who contributed to the success of numerous cultural initiatives.

She also recalled her administrative journey, which began by chance, and the commitment she made in organizing events that brought prestige to Pozzolengo. She emphasized the importance of consistency and the values that guided her, and explained that the decision to leave public life was made for the good of the country, remaining true to her principles.

Busti concluded by expressing gratitude for the experience she had and wishing everyone, especially the youth, to make their own the words of Mother Teresa of Calcutta: “What you do is just a drop in the ocean, but if you didn’t do it, the ocean would have one less drop.” She reiterated the importance of serving the community as the essence of being a part of it, a concept that has guided her work all these years.
