Scammers Impersonate Police in Garda Area to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the central and upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the Arma.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the genuine carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining the money, disappear and no longer make themselves visible.
