Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs around Lake Garda’s middle and upper areas, offering magazine subscriptions from the Arma.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to finance agencies, police, fire brigades, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to fake magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
