Garda Scammers Pose as Police Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the Arma.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or municipal officers.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be alert and immediately inform the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking your money, disappear and do not return.
