Garda Scam Alert: Fake Carabinieri Offer False Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the Arma.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire department, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

after taking the money, vanish without a trace.
