Scammers Impersonate Authorities in Garda Area, Warns Carabinieri

They pose as Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to Arma magazines.

They are not members of the military, but con artists who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

So be cautious and immediately inform the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
