Garda Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They masquerade as carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the Arma.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after taking the money, disappear and do not show up again.
