Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to Arma magazines.

These individuals are not military personnel but con artists who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have no connection to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after receiving the money, disappears.
