Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda, Targeting Local Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, craftsmen, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the Arma.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or ones that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the actual Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after taking the money, disappear without a trace.
