Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Calls to Sell Fake Magazines

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs around Lake Garda’s middle and upper sections, proposing subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or municipal security.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
