Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Trick Business Owners
Pretending to be Carabinieri, scammers contact hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the mid and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military-related magazines.
They are not members of the armed forces, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.
How to recognize scams and how to react
They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear without a trace.
