Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

Pretending to be Carabinieri, this scammer contacts hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant operators in the middle and upper Lake Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the armed forces.

They are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, each time, claim to belong to finance authorities, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after collecting the money, disappear.
