Scam Alert: Fake Police Calls Targeting Lake Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners around Lake Garda’s middle and upper areas, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not genuine military personnel, but scam artists who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

The scam artists often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining the money, disappear.
