Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Police Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the mid and high Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the army.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigades, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications with no connection to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have fallen prey to individuals who, after collecting the money, disappear.
