Garda Fraud Alert: Impersonators Claiming Police for Scam Subscriptions

They are impersonating Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the army.

These are not military personnel but fraudsters who, each time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

So be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by someone who, after receiving the money, disappears.
