Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions
They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.
They are not actual members of the military but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.
How to recognize scams and how to respond
They often pitch subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have no connection to law enforcement agencies.
Therefore, be alert and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by those who,
after receiving the money, disappear without a trace.
