Scammers Pretend to Be Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pretend to be Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

So be careful and immediately notify the true Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after taking the money, disappears.
