Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Hoteliers and Business Owners

Posing as Carabinieri, they contact hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda by phone, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire department, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have no connection with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear.
