Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area, Warn Authorities

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement authorities.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear.
