Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Businesses

They pretend to be Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazine of the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, firefighters, or municipal guards.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

after receiving the money, disappears completely.
