Scammers Faking Carabinieri Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions in Garda

They pretend to be Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering magazine subscriptions from the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the actual Carabinieri — just call 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining the money, disappear without a trace.
