Scammers Impersonating Carabinieri Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate the Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines related to the armed forces.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, firefighters, or municipal guards.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

So be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after taking the money, disappears.
